Colonial Road School is located in the suburban community of Franklin Lakes. Colonial Road School is a Pre-K - Grade 5 facility with 276 students. Our school represents more that just the walls and bricks it is made of, it is a school community that has embraced a theme of "Together We Can." As you walk though the hallways, you will notice that our school provides a learning environment with rich experiences that enhance the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the whole child. Our school climate is one in which students acquire self-confidence and independence as learners while developing positive attitudes about learning and school. We work diligently to promote effective communication skills so that our children can acquire an understanding of their vital role as members of our CRS community and society at large.

School News and Views via Constant Contact
Welcome to good news updates about Franklin Lakes Public Schools via the Constant Contact direct email resource. In our continuing effort to meet the communication needs of our constituency, we look to publish messages from a variety of sources that will inform our school and general communities. Issues will provide information from our District office and our schools and also incorporate more from such sources as our Board of Education, school partners (e.g., PTA, FLEF, Borough), and student related town organizations (e.g., Recreation, Public Library, Municipal Alliance).

There is no need to click, search, or subscribe; the Constant Contact communication will come directly to you. Of course, you can unsubscribe from this resource at any time and then re-subscribe in the future. Enjoy!

Week of Respect
Week of Respect comes around once every year to showcase the many ways our CRS students demonstrate respect.  At our school, to celebrate this important event, we focus on the idea of making respectful choices for your body, mind and heart.
Below are some of the activities that will encourage our students to honor the Week of Respect:

Celebrating a Week of Respect
Colonial Road School
October 6 - 10, 2014

The Anti-Bullying Bills of Rights Act designates the week beginning the first Monday in October of each year as a “Week of Respect” in the entire state of New Jersey.  School districts are directed to observe the week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing harassment, intimidation, or bullying.  At CRS, we celebrate respect every week; however, below are some special activities that will take place during NJ’s Week of Respect:

  • Quotes of Respect – Daily Morning Announcements
These quotes will inspire respect and compassion in our school community and will be said by members of the Helping Hands Committee.

  • Mix-It-Up at Lunch Day: Tuesday, October 7th
Students will be given new seats in the cafeteria in order to foster new relationships and expand social boundaries.

  • Table to Table Fundraiser: Thursday, October 9th
Table to Table is a community-based food rescue program that collects prepared and perishable food that would otherwise be wasted and delivers it to organizations serving the hungry in the Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic counties of New Jersey. We will be collecting donations for the program.A donation of $25.00 can help feed 18 children for a whole week! Please visit tabletotable.org for more information about how this worthwhile organization helps families in NJ.

  • Classroom Activities on Respect
Class Meetings throughout the week will focus on respect in multiple ways.
