Colonial Road School is located in the suburban community of Franklin Lakes. Colonial Road School is a Pre-K - Grade 5 facility with 276 students. Our school represents more that just the walls and bricks it is made of, it is a school community that has embraced a theme of "Together We Can." As you walk though the hallways, you will notice that our school provides a learning environment with rich experiences that enhance the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the whole child. Our school climate is one in which students acquire self-confidence and independence as learners while developing positive attitudes about learning and school. We work diligently to promote effective communication skills so that our children can acquire an understanding of their vital role as members of our CRS community and society at large.

New Student Registration
Dear Incoming Parents and Guardians:

Welcome to the Franklin Lakes School District!  We are pleased to inform you about the new streamlined procedure for registering new students entering Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  We have implemented an electronic open registration process for the 2015-16 school year.  We hope this new procedure will simplify the registration process for both our new families and for our staff.

In order to begin the open registration process, please click on the link below:

Open Registration

Once you have completed and submitted your initial registration, you will be contacted shortly by the appropriate school(s) with further instructions on how to complete the registration process.  Parents of students who will enter Kindergarten in September 2015 may register their children who were born on or before October 1, 2010.

We look forward to your active participation and support.  I am confident that our district will provide a dynamic, comprehensive and meaningful program to meet your child's educational needs.

Sincerely,
Lydia E. Furnari, Ed.D.

Celebrate the 2014/2015 School Year
What a great year we have had!  I can’t believe all of the things I learned about our schools and our children.  As I think back on my first year as your Superintendent, all I can do is smile.  I knew from the beginning that Franklin Lakes was going to be special, and I thank you all for making this a memorable year.

The past week has been full of celebration and reflection.  Memorable Moving Up ceremonies took place on Monday and Tuesday for our fifth grade students at CRS, HMR and WAS.  The halls echoed with the sounds of joy as everyone at each school “Clapped Out” the fifth graders, to wish them well in Middle School.  On Wednesday, our eighth grade students graduated, and will be moving on to high school.  They have accomplished many things and are truly ready for this next chapter in their lives.

As I reminded the FAMS class of 2015, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote “What lies behind us and what lies before us are small things compared to what lies within us.”  Our children are well prepared to take the next step on their educational journey, and I want to once again congratulate all of our students on a job well done.

Summertime is here and I hope you are planning to play, read, create, and have fun with your families and friends.  I am sure we will have great stories to tell when we see one another again in September.  Enjoy the time away from school, and treasure all of the memories you make.

I wish you all a relaxing, safe, and refreshing summer break.

All the best,
Dr. Lydia E. Furnari
